I've succumbed to the latest social network, Twitter and obviously abandoned my blog.

BUT, how much can a 160 characters say? Hence, the multiple number of tweets a day. Moreover, applications such as Tweetdeck and Nambu (been using it since I switched to Mac) makes it so much more convenient.

Finally, done with exams and the proposal! And, if it all goes well *fingers crossed*... I still have a year of studies left! Ican'twaitforallthistobeover!

Monday, 31st May 2010... Printed the proposal, got it binded, submitted it to the faculty office and off I went to pack my room in 30 mins! Spent 3-long-weeks on campus without going home is TORTURING! Especially when it came to FOOD!

So, plans were made for BR31 ice-cream... to meet up with the bunch I haven't met for ages and the end of Year 2.

Tapao-ed two pints and went over the Nasi Kayu Kandar to eat and catch up with each other.

Clocking in at 2am, I'm blogging to refresh myself.

4 more papers to go and FYP proposal dateline extended by 3 days! (3 days is ALOT and there goes the whole of May)

Next paper is Plant Developmental Genetics and I'm currently studying Floral Development... The ABC model, floral mutations and so on.

Its almost the end of Year 2.
Two more submissions,
One Final Year Project proposal,
5 papers for the semester exams.

Summer plans are still hanging...I'm too lazy to get started with internship applications and I need to ask my FYP supervisor on my project plans. There might be a possibility of me starting my FYP during summer :S.

FYP presentation and thesis submission in a year's time!
Approximately 13 months to the end of exams!14/15 months to graduation :)
The finishing line is just around the corner :P

But...
there's still so much work left to do.

As a student, its never easy trying to balance work and play. Time is always insufficient for both!

It's been too long of a journey and the end is just around the corner. I've been telling myself to stay focused in order to achieve what I aimed for. It is definitely not an easy task but its not impossible to achieve. I need less distractions and more motivation. I know I can do this. :)

Was clearing photos and came across this, taken a few weeks back at the farm. It's wings are so delicate and the legs are so graceful!

Piano Theory Grade 5 exam is on Monday morning! There's still so much to memorize! And the worse part is that I have to rush back to campus after the exam for a practical class. Hopefully next week would be a good one, in terms of productivity and activities :)

I was missing from the blogosphere for quite some time. Been busy with courseworks, exams and now its halfway through Semester 4 already. I abandoned the Project 52, after a few weeks.

The workload of the UK education system is suicidal, no joke. It starts off with 6 modules a semester, 12 weeks of lecture, 2 weeks of study break, 2 weeks of exams, a few days break, a new semester, another 12 weeks of lecture, 2 weeks of study break, 2 weeks of exams and 4 month long Summer break! In between the lecture and study weeks, we have to slot in the Malaysian Public Holidays.

Anyhow, the past 5 weeks of Semester 4 have been all about fun. CNY was great, all the munching obviously made me put on weight! Its hard to resist all the cookies that only appear once a year. :)

And the extra cash that we get :)

Along with the card game I love most :)

And since CNY is over, the fun stops. Last semester's results were okay, gotta work a whole lot harder this semester. There's too much to do!

Light painting aka light drawing or light graffiti is a technique in which involves long exposures to moving light in the dark. Light sources are usually hand-held to draw images in space and captured by the camera as moving lines/ drawings.

So much to read, so little time!

First paper on Monday (11th January), Plant and Cell Physiology B. Followed by 5 other modules! 6 modules to sit for isn't easy! Wished there was another dissertation module this semester. Will be done with exams on the 20th and the following semester starts on the 25th! 3 more semesters to go! Can't wait till all these is over!~

Gonna get back to studying right now, updates shall come after the 2oth!

Hey all,

I just completed my Pathology poster. I never thought designing this poster would take me so many hours! The usual posters takes an average of 2 to 3 hours. This took at least 24 hours but I'm happy with the outcome. Looks really neat! :)

Till the end of the semester, I'm still left with a 1,500 words critique to write on, the poster presentation and Research Techniques in Plant Science mini-project. After that, there's the holidays to enjoy and the exams to prepare for.

Courseworks are draining every bit of soul left in me. Next week is gonna be hectic! Debate on Monday, 1500 words submission on Tuesday and Mauritius Project Proposal and Presentation on Friday alongside dreadful meetings and lectures. I might not make it till the end of the week!

Shall enjoy the weekend while I can...Sunday meetings are -_-"!

Two submissions due on the 17^th of Nov accompanied with tonnes of journals to read up on, a debate to prepare for, and 7 other courseworks that are due by the end of the semester. And they say Uni life is easy. One thing for sure… Not in mine! I basically quit all SA associated activities, clubs and societies and even a break from SMC. Its coming to Week 6 and the stress level just got higher. I foresee the next 2 weeks being pretty much the same. Sleepless nights, burying myself in journals related to intra-specific competition & growth analysis, salt tolerance, inter-cropping of Sugar Cane in Mauritius and Analysis Markers. There is plenty more besides the ones mentioned. I’m pretty nervous about the GM debate and the poster presentation.

What did I just get myself into?

Shall get back to work now! I don’t have much time left.

Week 4 of Year 2.

Life as a Plant Biotechnology student is draining out every ounce of energy from me. Week 4 so far have been hectic. No joke, Week 1 was light and as the weeks passed, the timetable gets more and more packed. This week is the record breaking one with 10am to 4pm classes/labs from Monday to Thursday and half day on Friday. Lab on Monday was on PCR and then, products of the PCR underwent Gel Electrophoresis yesterday.

Spent the morning in Tiscra 2 feeling as lost as ever with Dr. Chin. She herself couldn't figure out how to get the results and spent almost 2 hours on troubleshooting. Best part was that she left us just like that! I somehow or rather, managed to get the files sorted out in the end and the classmates all knew how it worked in 5 minutes.

Life? It’s all good. I’ve always told myself not to sulk over tiny matters and move on. There’s so much more to life! On the brighter side, I’m very thankful to have friends who listen to my stories and stand by my decisions. One thing I always had in mind was that friends of quality are much more important than just the quantity.

I think there's something wrong with my metabolic rate. I've been eating much more than what I usually take in and yet feel hungry an hour after that. Can't wait for the weekends! Need to rejuvenate myself. This week have been hectic!

Alright peeps, I know I haven't been that much of a blogger recently. I sorta abandoned the blog for twitter.

3 weeks till Uni starts again. It's Year 2. I'm predicting loads of time spent in the library or room, reading journals, books and more journals. Then, comes the horror of picking a FYP topic and internship during summer. Ahh, not good. Am looking forward to more lab works though. BUT not the reports.

Year 1 was filled with sleepness nights to rush in reports that were never ending.

Still waiting for my accommodation to be settled. Its either me staying on campus or traveling daily.

Project 52 - Week 5 (10/8/09 - 16/8/09)

Monday - Went to the farm after lunch with mum and dad. It rained and we were all soaking wet.

Tuesday - Meeting up with the Omega-ians at Old Town Kopitiam, Taipan. *click*

Thursday - Went for MICCOS 09 with my dad in MAEPS, Serdang. Nothing interesting this time round since its focused on Oil Palm, Tabacco, Rubber, Timber and etc. Got to see what a tabacco plant look like though. After the exhibition, went to the farm to see the progress of dad's Passion Fruit preject.

Friday - Attended Food and Hotel Malaysia 2009 at KLCC with my family. I was ~~a culinary student for a day~~ eating like I haven't eaten for days there. Food samples were really good. Loved the dark chocolates from Beryl's and the lamb from another booth. Scratched the estima against a lorry today, I think its around the same time of the year that I drove over a drain.

Saturday - PD! - Dad's company trip + Seminar on Lean Management. Had to wake up really early because we had to be in PD before 9.30am. Couldn't check in to the hotel(Corus Paradise Resort) as the rooms were not ready yet so we were served breakfast before the seminar. Had lunch and BBQ dinner at the hotel. Dinner was okay but lunch was horrible. Before dinner, we surveyed PD town and Lukut for food. Nothing interesting again. Last trip to PD in March was dissappointing too. Oh, and missed the sunset too. So no pics... Rest of the pics will be up in the next post.

In conclusion, PD isn't that worthwhile going to. No good food, beaches are horrid and hotels are old and dirty! Hotel review; Poor - Poorly maintained, looks good from the outside but rooms, food and service are very poor. Next morning, breakfast at the hotel and then we left early. Stopped by Seremban for lunch before heading to the farm, grandparent's place and then home. Even Seremban would be a better place to visit. Food there are to die for! :)

Pao from Khiew Enterprise, Dengkil. Prefer this compared to the other second one from Tanjung Sepat.

This one is Hai Yew Heng, Tanjung Sepat. Read online that its hainanese pao. What's the difference between this and the rest? Shall google to find out later. They have more than 8 different flavours.

Both stalls have been visited and reviewed by many famous tv shows and celebs. Want to try them out yourself? PM me for address or way to get there!

Its August already!
Year 2 starts next month. I was dreading so much about 4 months break being too long. Now, its too short!

Been working on the Project Paper for the Dragon Fruit farm. The thing I dislike most about it is that is has to be in BM. I took 15 minutes to type an e-mail in BM! Such a waste of time.

And the new management for Pangkor and Kapas accommodation halls have not confirmed my room for next sem! Tried calling them but they are not answering!Annoying...

Saturday - ZH's farewell party at his house. Met alot of ex-SU people whom I haven't seen around for ages. Even feels odd to meet them again as we used to talk/chat alot and now there's nothing to say. No photos cause I nicely left my house without the battery. Only realized that the battery was missing when we were about to take group photos. ZH, get those photos! After the party, went jogging with the siblings. Midnight jog :)

Sunday - Gone red-headed. Did red highlights on my hair and I'm hoping it fades to light brown. For now, RED it is. My parents decided to take a drive around to see fruit farms and so we went to Dengkil, Morib, Tanjung Sepat, Sungai Pelek, Sepang and then home. Stopped at Dengkil and Tanjung Sepat for steam paos. I still prefer the Dengkil ones. Its from this shop named Khiew Enterprise in Dengkil Town itself. The restaurant just next to it is not bad too.

Project 52 - Week 3 (27/7/09 -> 2/8/09)

At Carefour, *gross*. This tiny rat was crawling all around the fresh food section.

After a staff picked it up with his bare hands.

Been following my mum to her workplace since Tuesday.

I get annoyed with weird phone calls.

Friday: End of July! Had my second appointment for my RCT. The doctor told me it would take an hour, but it turned out to be an hour and a half. Took X-ray thrice and kept my mouth open the entire time because there were files (needle-like stuffs) poked into my tooth. Thrice because she couldn't get a proper x-ray of the roots as they were apparently too long. Had to walk up and down the clinic with my mouth open too. Then, she filled the tooth with rubber fillings. Whole process wasn't painful and I'm looking forward to my last appointment next week (technically this week).

took this while waiting for the dentist to get back into the room...

Headed down to the farm after that, went fishing with my brother at the pond and then had dinner in Mantin. After dinner, we decided to head back to the farm to see the flowers open. That explains the flower in the previous post. A lot more to come! when I'm not lazy.

Saturday: Dim sum with the family because mum had to go to Poh Kong. Bummed into E. Had Old Town coffee while waiting for Poh Kong to open. Then, to Bukit Raja.

Queen of the Night

After almost a year, this was my first time seeing the flower bloom. This is the flower of the dragon fruit (also known as Pitaya, Buah Naga and many other various names), which only blooms at night and thus, goes about with the name Queen of the Night.

Monday - Pancakes drenched with honey.

Tuesday - Another visit to the dentist again. I was thinking it might have been a gum infection of some sort, but the doctor told me it that it was nothing. Then I insisted that it was really painful, he drilled through the previous filling and tells me that the tooth is cracked. So now, I have two options to choose from; Root Canal Therapy or Extraction. Both painful, but I would obviously prefer saving the tooth.

Wednesday - Watched Bruno, I would say its probably the sickest movie ever. I was on soft food and painkillers for a few days then. At first, the pain was bearable but a day after the visit to the dentist it was really bad.

That comment from Omair cracked me up. Of all people!

Thursday - Had dinner with the family in Bangsar for sis's bday. Darn, I forgot the name of the restaurant but it was Korean BBQ Buffet. Food was pretty decent for a buffet. Came home smelling like burnt charcoal. That's probably the reason why I dislike BBQs, even at home. Too much hassle of preparing, cooking and the cleaning up.

Friday - Went for my first visit for Root Canal Treatment. Dr. Voon was really nice, she clearly explained everything before the procedure and then gave a few jabs to numb my cheeks and gums. The whole process wasn't painful at all, only towards the end before she said she found the nerves all clumped up together. Next visit in a week's time and it would be an hour long!

Project 52 - Week 1 (13/7/09 -> 19/7/09)

Yes, the launch of Project 52.

Why 52?
Instead of Project 365, I've decided to blog by the week. Knowing that I hardly even blog weekly, it would be impossible to keep up with blogging daily. So there goes, 52 weeks of a year. Project 52 would also include a photo of the week if I don't get lazy snapping and processing photos.

Week 1
People develop this shield around them when they feel insecure about themselves.

Thursday - Mum's bday dinner at Sumi-Ka, SS15. This place is apparently quite popular among the local Japanese and they hardly accept walk-in customers. Famous for its Yakitori, a dish of marinated chicken, beef or vege pieces grilled on skewers similar to our local Satay. I've watched a similar review on AFC before about a restaurant in Singapore serving Yakitori and the chef's skill to sprinkle consistent amount of salt on the meat.

Rest of the week was spent lazing around. Procrastinating on work that I need to finish up on.

Met up with Sherilyn and the rest again for dinner/yumcha at Lorong Seratus Tahun. Put us together and you'll get an endless stream of gossips and things to talk about. We won't even mind being quarantined for Swine Flu together.

Ms Ann, what happened to the ice-skating outing with you and your kids? The plan to let them skip school to hang out with a bunch of Uni kids. :)

The movie dinner plan with Sherilyn didn't work out. Couldn't make it in time for the movie so we walked around and settled for drinks at Waffle World. Basically to sit and gossip all the way till 7pm.

Then, dinner at Italiannies with everyone else. Sherilyn not knowing who would be there. We blurted out to her a few and she sorta guessed who would be there. After dinner, was to go watch movie but the queue was way too long and so we decided to yum cha. I think this was the longest time I ever took to decide on a place to yum cha. From Old towns (Subang, Sunway, Taipan) to McDs and Station 1? They finally picked Old Town Mentari which was packed so we drove to SS15 instead. Even then, it was Old Taste and Old Town. Shows how fickle minded we were!

Gosh, I haven't talked so much in ages and I miss everyone! Sherilyn, come back next year!!! :)

The ultimate tool to perfect skin. LOL

No make up needed... just hours of 'brushing' on Photoshop. Tried it though, results weren't that convincing as you need to get the right colour to match the skin tone. I would say, big waste of time. Might as well ask people to slap on some make up before taking photos.

Almost done with the yearbook pages. Worked on a few Page-breakers and Templates for them. Will post up them up when its published or otherwise, post up what I designed.

Next thing is to work on my portfolio. Was thinking of doing some freelance work for extra money. A girl is always happier with some extra cash. *smiley*

Today, went back to campus to get my results and Plant Dissertation. Applied Entomology pulled my average down. What to expect, Dr Peter's modules are never easy. I must say, next semester I got to work a whole lot harder as it will be included in the CGPA for the degree. Dissertation was alright as well, I think I managed to get one of the highest marks. And for now, I'm gonna do a whole lot of research on that something. :)

Thursday, dinner with the pm3-ians in Ole Ole Bali was a whole lot of fun! My portion of grilled lamb was humongous and I forgot about the toothache until the food came.

Today, out of the blue... I went to burn fats! An hour at the Sports Complex :)

Well, this new year I avoided alot of the CNY goodies. Imagine, I only had 3 tiny pineapple tarts which I crave for all year round! The other goodies? I had very little compared to what I normally stuff down. Last weekend was awesome, very busy kitchen at home! Lamb and pastas! <3>

And... I did my whole lab report in 3 hours after midnight. Its the best time to work cause there won't be disturbance.

I'm all well now...hopefully. Was still having fever yesterday afternoon.

I don't get it.

Anyone ( I really mean anyone at all...wtf) can own a d-slr now! My D80 cost a bomb okay! That was one year ago. Now SO cheap lo! And I'm planning to get a flash soon which is gonna burn a very deep hole in my pocket.

d-slrs are not for playing or taking noob-ish photos lor!!!

Look at the cheapest D-slr in the market now... Its just a few hundred ringgit more expensive than my dream digital compact camera (I'm planning on changing my cybershot as well). That makes way for noob-ish, non-artsy lousy photographers to own a d-slr and then make themselves claim that they photograph well. wth.
